CSR Launches Production Plan for the Season 2018-2019

 Abu Dhabi Farmers Service Center (ADWC) has announced the production plan for the 2018-2019 agricultural season, which starts mid-August and runs through June next year. The Center identified the items included in the plan with about 68 varieties of fresh vegetables. Crops included 6 types of fruit, which are included for the first time in the agricultural plan to encourage farm owners to grow and 18 varieties of organic crops were included to encourage farmers to switch to organic farming. While the agricultural season plan 2018-2019 ensures diversification between the production of the various crops required for the market during the winter and summer seasons, three primary crops account for about 70 percent of the total expected production. The option alone accounts for about 38 percent of the total production, followed by 26 percent And then 6% of the total production expected to be supplied to the markets. The door was opened to register farmers wishing to supply their products to the center and to grow vegetables and fruits according to the plan. Registration is done through the customer service center and all the agricultural extension centers spread throughout the emirate. “This year’s agricultural plan represents a qualitative shift in the center’s work as it focuses on encouraging the shift towards organic farming and fruit cultivation,” said Nasser Mohammed Al Junaibi, Acting CEO of the Farmers’ Service Center. He pointed out that the plan depends on the study of each region in the emirate and determine the types of crops suitable for each of them, taking into account the harmonization between the production of open farms and plastic houses and then be notified of each farm in accordance with the conditions and requirements of the market where the required area of ​​open farms was identified by 4223 dunums compared to 6530 beta Protected.
