DP World signs a contract to develop and operate a new logistics center in Mali

DP World has signed a 20-year concession that can be automatically renewed for another 20 years to develop and operate an advanced logistics center outside the capital, Bamako, in the Republic of Mali. The center will be a multimedia logistics platform with land warehouses for containers and cargo terminals that will facilitate the export and import of goods.
The Financial Logistics Center is located on the main road from Dakar in Senegal to Bamako and close to the Bamako-Dakar railway line.
The center will have the capacity to handle 300,000 containers and 4 million tons of general and bulk cargo.
The initial investment in the first phase of the project is about US $ 50 million and will include an internal container shipping terminal that will support the growth of the financial economy by facilitating the import and export of goods. It is expected that the work to complete the first phase starting in 2019 will take about 18 months.
Under the contract, Dubai Ports World will provide the Government of Mali with three trains to support the movement of goods and passengers along the Bamako-Dakar railway line.
The Logistics Financial Center will also significantly reduce the time required to handle product entry into Mali in the context of efforts to overcome obstacles to trade and economic growth of the country. Under the contract, DP World will provide integrated electronic services from Through the non-paper electronic trading platform to accelerate the movement of goods and facilitate trade.
Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Chairman and CEO of DP World said: “The financial economy will grow steadily over the next two decades, driven by strong growth in the economy and population.” The Financial Logistics Center will provide the country with a necessary logistics platform to facilitate procedures.
