Dubai Airports inaugurates High-tech System to Monitor DXB Operations in Real-time

Media IN Dubai 9th-07-2019

Dubai Airports on Tuesday announced the launch of a high-tech system, ‘realtimeDXB’, to monitor operations in real-time at Dubai International (DXB).

The bespoke cloud-based platform simulates traffic flows to enhance operations at the world’s busiest airport by collecting data generated by over 50 operational systems, including those of Dubai Airports and its many service partners.

In a comment Damian Ellacott, vice president of the Airport Operations Control Centre (AOCC) at Dubai Airports, said: “With ability to measure operational efficiency, it [realtimeDXB] provides us and our partners with enhanced decision-support tools to improve operations and manage disruption more effectively. This system will be instrumental in the implementation of new concepts of airport operations such as Airport Collaborative Decision Making (ACDM) and Total Airport Management.”

Under the initial phase of realtimeDXB, attention will be paid on situational awareness of the airfield, mainly aircraft flow.

During this phase, the system will be monitoring and visualising airfield activity including aircraft and vehicle movements, the status of aircraft stands, flight data information, arrival, turnaround and departure processes, alert generation and performance analysis.

Dubai Airports currently works on the next phase of the platform which will focus on passenger and baggage flows within the terminals.

Using real-time information and advanced smart gates have already improved customer experience at DXB.

It is worth noting that DXB had cut customer wait-times by 30% during the first quarter of 2019, a direct result of smart systems showed.
