Egypt’s exports increase 15%, trade balance “improving”

Egyptian exports increased by 15 percent during the first quarter of the current fiscal year ending on June 30, according to a statement issued by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry on Friday.

The statement did not mention the volume of imports, but said that the trade balance deficit registered an improvement of 2 percent without reference to its value, while he pointed to a growth in the volume of foreign trade by 9 percent.

Trade and Industry Minister Tariq Qabeel said non-oil exports rose to $ 632.34 million during the first quarter, compared with $ 5 billion and $ 520 million during the same period in 2017, an increase of 15 percent.
