The Jordanian Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources confirmed that the National Petroleum Company has a plan for the current year to dig three wells in order to discover more gas in the field of Risha to increase the contribution of local sources of energy to the total energy consumed.
The ministry said that investment in the field of gas feathers continues with the efforts of national cadres working in the National Petroleum Company, which finally achieved an important discovery, raising the productivity of the field of irrigation from 9 million cubic feet per day to 16 million cubic feet.
The ministry stressed that the National Petroleum Company, which is self-financed and relies on its resources from the proceeds of selling natural gas extracted from the field of Risha gas, is financially sufficient to continue exploration efforts without the need of any foreign investor, especially that the national cadres working in the company has investigated the well 48 important achievement is a catalyst to provide More support for local efforts. The ministry confirms that the National Petroleum Company operates alone in the field, which currently produces about 5 percent of the Kingdom’s total daily consumption of natural gas and there is no need to attract any foreign investor to the field and the relationship with BP has been stalled since 2014 and terminated the agreement with ” BG “in January 2017, making the full rights and privileges in the field of Risha confined to the National Petroleum Company, which relies on the wealth of technical information available and accumulated over the past decades.
The Ministry commended the efforts of the national oil cadres and the achievements made on the ground, calling on the workers in the field of irrigation to proceed with the company’s plan of action to contribute to the security of energy supply and reduce the energy bill on the national economy.
The National Petroleum Company was established in June 1995 and has a current capital of 15 million dinars. In 1996, the government signed a concession agreement for the Risha area for 50 years. The number of wells drilled in the concession area since its establishment and the natural resources authority 45 wells, Which currently produces 15 wells.
