The First UAE to Adopt the 360-Ring Economy Acceleration System

The Government of the United Arab Emirates, in cooperation with the World Economic Forum for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), has signed the “Accelerating the Circular Economy 360” initiative to be the first country to support the Global Initiative, reflecting the country’s status as a global center and an open laboratory for economic and technological innovation and a leading model of sustainable development. The initiative was signed by UAE Minister of Climate Change and Environment Thani Thani bin Ahmed Al Zaidi and HE Omar Bin Sultan Al Ulama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence and by the World Economic Forum, Mr. Borji Brandi, during the participation of the UAE delegation to the World Economic Forum for the Middle East. Which will be held in Jordan on 6 and 7 April. The joint signing of the initiative will translate strategic directions into practical initiatives by creating an enabling environment and a sustainable infrastructure to support the growth of the economic, social and environmental sectors. “The country’s success in linking development plans with environmental considerations is the result of our leadership’s unwavering interest in promoting development and prosperity while maintaining the sustainability of our natural resources,” said Thani Bin Ahmed Al Zaidi, Minister of Climate Change and Environment. “With the 360-Ring Economy Acceleration Initiative, we are working with the World Economic Forum to mainstream sustainability concepts into existing and future projects to conserve resources, increase reliance on clean energy, and implement sustainable development standards.”
He stressed the need to benefit from the Fourth Industrial Revolution in supporting the circular economy, which will contribute to create economic opportunities and new employment opportunities for young people in the region.
