High prices of chicken Netvat in Jordan

Media In / Amman June 16, 2019

The Jordanian National Consumer Protection Society said it had received hundreds of complaints from various governorates of the Kingdom and from the suburbs of the capital about the price of chicken Netafat between 30 to 40 piasters per kilo compared to their prices during Ramadan.
The Association President, Dr. Mohamed Obeidat said in a press statement on Sunday: The Association monitored the prices of chickens Nettafat before the month of Ramadan and during the holy month and after the end of the month, and found that the rates of rise ranged between 20 to 30 percent in various provinces of the Kingdom.
He added that the decision taken by the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply to set price ceilings for Netafat chicken came late and did not work at all and did not benefit citizens because prices remained high due to the lack of control of shops, especially in the provinces far from the capital.
He pointed out that the rise in chicken prices is unjustified, especially that the production covers the market at rates ranging from 100 to 130 percent and production costs at this time of the year are lower than the rest of the year.
