Jordan exempts cardboard and paper items from export duties

AMMAN, May 23, 2019

The Jordanian government announced the suspension of export duties on exports of cardboard and paper, in order to preserve current investments in the paper and cardboard trade sector and to encourage future investments in this sector in the absence of local factories using these types of paper.
This came during a meeting of the Jordanian Council of Ministers on Wednesday, where the decision encourages the collection of paper and cardboard effectively and not to be buried with household waste in landfills because of its burdens and additional costs and negative environmental effects as a result of accumulation.
The decision will be implemented as of the date of its publication in the Official Gazette and the work will remain in force until a new decision is issued to cancel it.
