Launch of 15 major power transmission plants in Dubai

 Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has inaugurated 15 major 13211 kV transformer plants in the areas of Al-Salal, Sayh Al-Shuaib, Expo 2020, Worsan Al-Ila, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Gardens, Palm Jumeirah, Watan Al Hammar, Gulf Business Park and Zabeel II at a total cost of AED 1.73 billion.
Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), said that the Authority is adapting its strategies to support the development plans launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, Which will meet the growing needs of the Emirate’s energy and water sectors and provide energy and water supplies at the highest levels of availability, reliability and efficiency. The 15 major 13211 kV transformations reflect the excellent approach adopted by the Authority and its relentless efforts to upgrade services Offer.
He added that the Authority has established 236 11132 kV plants until the end of 2017, while the number of stations that were inaugurated during the year 2017 only 15 stations amounted to a total of 1.68 billion dirhams.
It is worth mentioning that the production capacity of the power plants in the Authority currently reach 10413 megawatts while the capacity of electricity produced from clean energy in Dubai is currently about 413 MW and is expected to reach the capacity of electricity produced from clean energy in Dubai by 2020 To 1313 megawatts. In addition, it is expected that the total capacity of electricity in Dubai in 2020 to about 14085 MW containing solar energy produced from solar energy.
