 The sixth edition of the “Small and Medium Enterprises Summit 2019” organized by the Mohammed Bin Rashid Establishment for the Development of Small and Medium Enterprises, one of the institutions of the Department of Economic Development (DED), was launched in Dubai today.
The summit, held in partnership with Dubai-based Gert Group Group, the Ritz-Carlton, Dubai International Financial Center (DIFC), aims to improve the competitiveness of small and medium enterprises and enhance the integration of economic opportunities for enterprises.
The summit, which was attended by 1,000 entrepreneurs, business leaders and investors, as well as senior government officials, highlighted successful companies from different sectors, which were characterized by a sense of innovation, as well as panel discussions and workshops led by leading leaders in the SME sector. .
Sami Al Qamzi, Director General of Dubai Economy, said: “The Summit agenda is in line with the Department’s vision to promote Dubai as a global center for innovation and entrepreneurship. Entrepreneurship is one of the tools that contribute to sustainable social and economic development and is also linked to the UAE’s 2021 national agenda. The Dubai 2021 Plan is one of the strategies that contribute to making Dubai the happiest city that brings together people who are capable and contributing to shaping the future society and economy of the emirate.
Since 2002, the Mohammed Bin Rashid Establishment for SME Development has supported entrepreneurship through a series of initiatives in partnership with the public and private sectors, he said. The efforts have resulted in 344,649 entrepreneurs benefiting from start-up, consulting and development services, Thousands and 53 UAE companies and embrace 571 projects to launch through Hamdan Center for Innovation and Creativity.
The Director General of the Dubai Economic Department noted that the net financial value of the incentives and support provided by the Foundation since 2002 to the owners of projects 459 million dirhams in addition to financial support of the Mohammed bin Rashid Fund to support small and medium enterprises, which provided financing of 68 million dirhams, supporting 97 projects UAE .
Abdul Baset Al Janahi, Executive Director, Mohammed Bin Rashid Establishment for SME Development, said that the organization seeks to create an ideal system to support leading talent and promising emerging companies. In recent years, the institution has focused on encouraging small and medium enterprises to adopt governance practices Adopting the latest innovative technologies and acquiring skill sets that enhance their potential to finance their development projects and sustain their competitiveness.
He added that the 2019 World Summit on Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) contributes to the continued cooperation between development partners and the competitiveness of the entrepreneurial society, as well as benefiting from future opportunities and sustaining growth. This is in line with the strategy of the Corporation and the Dubai 2021 plan for small and medium enterprises focusing on three main axes: Leading activity and enhancing the competitiveness of enterprises through innovation, productivity, quality and stronger integration of small and medium enterprises with high-growth economic opportunities.
