Trade and Investment Promotion Network calls for Upgrading Trade among Arab Countries

MediaIn – Dubai February 13, 2018

The Dubai Export Development Corporation (DEDC), in cooperation with the International Trade Center (ITC), hosted the regional meeting of the Arab Trade and Investment Network organized by the International Trade Center (ITC) in cooperation with the Arab Trade Initiative for the period from 13 to 14 February.

The meeting aims to strengthen efforts to promote national trade and generate new employment opportunities for small and medium enterprises in Arab countries.

“Dubai is an ideal starting point for business,” said Saeed Al Awadhi, Executive Director, Dubai Export Development Corporation (DEDC). “The emirate is well connected with regional and international trade and promotes global exchange. The two-day meeting will allow decision-makers and stakeholders to take a closer look at Dubai’s continued opportunities for regional trade, especially for SMEs, which are part of global value chains. Regional companies can expand from Dubai to foreign markets and open new channels. ”

“We seek to strengthen the relationship between policy makers and the private sector through the network of Arab trade and investment organizations, which help facilitate regional trade links, improve information exchange, and provide better services in trade promotion and business environment,” said Aransha Gonzalez, ITC Chief Executive Officer. He added that they aim to work to ensure that the voice of the private sector in the Arab countries is heard better and become a means of enhancing trade cooperation within the region in the market as of October of the same year.
