Ras Al Khaimah Economic City (RAK) recently launched its “Virtual Merchant” initiative, in line with the RAK Government’s drive to promote e-business in the Emirate.
Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Shaikh Al-Naqbi, Director General of the Department, said that the launch of the Virtual Trader initiative was aimed at supporting entrepreneurs managed through social media channels, websites, smart applications, facilitating the operation and sustainability of the project. Business to license holders, and enhance the competitiveness and sustainability of youth projects in the Emirate.
He said that the organization of activities within the scope of the initiative will lead to enhancing consumer confidence in terms of the buyer’s access to all registered channels of communication to the owner of the project, providing more options to the consumer to meet its requirements and needs, and to protect the electronic business through the codification of activities and facilitate the mechanism of conservation Intellectual property rights for entrepreneurs and support for them to conduct their business properly.
The economic advisor to the department, Dr. Abdel Halim Moheisen, said that the granting of licenses for economic activities electronically will be subject to a set of regulatory controls that regulate the rhythm of its practice on the ground through modern technical means. The most important of these is the prior approval of all federal and local authorities in activities that require such approval Such as media and other activities. It also includes a commitment to take into account the personal privacy of customers and their data, and abide by the security controls of foreign transactions (online purchase) in order to avoid any future crimes such as commercial fraud
