Registration in ‘Sharjah Excellence Award’ is now open: SCCI

The Board of Trustees of the Sharjah Excellence Award announced that the registration of the economic facilities in the new edition of the award 2019 has been opened since the beginning of this May. Registration in the various categories of the award will last until the end of September 2019.

In this regard, the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) invited business communities in the UAE and GCC to take part in the award and make use of its numerous benefits.

The Chamber said that it will organise in the coming period a series of awareness courses and programmes with a view to enhancing the culture of quality and institutional excellence, in addition to adopting the best practices in both Emirati and Gulf private sector.

The SCCI also explained that the excellence model of the European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM) is considered a comprehensive management framework since more than 30,000 major enterprises around the world are relying on this model.

In this regard, the Chamber announced that the registration in the EFQM-based award is now open for all facilities and enterprises in the seven categories of the award including; Sharjah Excellence Award, Sharjah Gulf Excellence Award, Sharjah Green Award, Sharjah Small & Medium Enterprise Award, Sharjah CSR Award, Sharjah Entrepreneurs Award and Sharjah Gulf Localisation Award.

The General Coordinator of the Sharjah Excellence Award, said that the participation fees for the main award are only 3000 AED, noting that the registration in the other award categories, including Gulf ones, will be free of charge.

The General coordinator called on the economic facilities in Sharjah, UAE and Gulf region to seize this opportunity and take stock of the enormous benefits of the award as one of the most important awards across the region.

She noted that the award is witnessing constant development, attributing that to SCCI’s keenness on fostering the culture of quality and excellence as part of its vision to be the impetus of economic development in the Emirate of Sharjah and UAE, and to be a regional hub to provide the best scientific and practical practices in the region.

She shed light on the significant changes and amendments to the award adopted by the Board of trustees in line with international best practices in business excellence. The decisions included changing the name of the Sharjah Economic Excellence Award to the Sharjah Excellence Award and changing the name of Sharjah Award for Emerging Projects in the United Arab Emirates to the Sharjah Small and Medium Enterprises Award and separating them into two categories, each of which includes two winners. Each of them will get 25,000 AED. Those two categories include the Micro Enterprises with 5 or fewer employees and the Small and Medium Enterprises with more than 5 staff members.

Moreover, the amendments included paving the way for all Emirates to take part in “Sharjah Entrepreneurs Award” category which is dedicated to the most successful businessmen in the UAE, who have a significant role in the business world and consequently affected their professional and personal path in a positive way. In this category, two winners will be selected, each of them will get 50,000 AED.

The General coordinator underlined that the new changes aim to simplify the process of participation in the award and facilitate its procedures in all categories, especially in the Sharjah Gulf Localisation Award and Sharjah Gulf Excellence Award.

It is noteworthy that the Sharjah Excellence Award is held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohamed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, and His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah.

The award comes as part of the SCCI’s endeavors to create the right investment climate in the Emirate of Sharjah and reinforce its competitiveness, in addition to opening the door to this investment to harness the values of quality, leadership, and innovation.
