The second phase of the “Sharjah Statistics” “Economic Survey”

The Department of Statistics and Community Development in Sharjah started the second phase of the “Economic Survey” project which started in January this year and includes various administrative areas in addition to the free zones in the emirate.
The project aims to collect data for various public and private sector institutions as well as non-profit institutions to identify the characteristics and components of investment institutions and companies and to show the economic performance of the Emirate.
The “Economic Survey” project was launched after the completion of the “Building, Housing and Establishment Inventory” project, which included field visits to 3,511 facilities located within the survey sample throughout the Emirate of Sharjah. These include adding basic data such as “communication numbers, type of activity, And data on salaries, wages, operating expenses, capital, employment and other economic data.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Humaid Al Qassimi, Head of Statistics and Community Development in Sharjah, said that in addition to collecting data and identifying economic indicators, we aim at identifying the obstacles and challenges facing the business sector in the Emirate with the aim of finding solutions and alternatives. The survey will give us a comprehensive and general picture of the reality of economic performance in the emirate. The project is also an essential part of our responsibility to provide data and information that contribute to reading the reality of the economy in the Emirate and monitoring the variables that affect the development process. Sheikh Mohammed bin Humaid Al Qasimi added that the economic survey project, which is considered a national project because of its importance and usefulness, meets the needs of various institutions and government and private sectors, in addition to the emerging and medium companies which are the mainstay of the economy and its growth engine.
