The contractual value of construction permits issued by the Municipality of Sharjah during last year amounted to more than 12 billion dirhams, while the contractual value of construction permits issued with certificates of achievement in the same year reached 9 billion dirhams. The output of the engineering and building sector witnessed a 3 percent increase compared to 2017. 52,488 engineering permits and more than 77,000 inspection visits were issued to various areas of Sharjah City.
Eng. Khalifa Bin Huda Al Suwaidi, Assistant General Manager of the Engineering and Building Sector at Sharjah Municipality, said that the emirate is witnessing remarkable growth and growth in various fields and an unprecedented economic movement that has become a destination for many investors and businessmen.
He pointed out that the engineering and building sector in the Municipality of Sharjah City has achieved many achievements during the past year in various fields, including the development of infrastructure and services that keep pace with all the emirate’s unprecedented expansion and growth in the urban area.
Al Suwaidi said that during the current year, the Municipality intends to launch the “Star Rating” application, an automated system designed to evaluate engineering consultants and construction contractors operating in the Emirate of Sharjah to measure indicators affecting the quality of work in the engineering field such as administrative qualification, professional experience and compliance with laws and regulations. Profession These indicators help the owner to choose the consultant’s office and the contractor to complete his real estate project.
It also aims at launching a new application called “Injaz”. It is a brief and easy guide to the procedures necessary for establishing the private housing from the selection of the contractor, the consultant, the design of the building, the passing of the construction permit and the completion of the construction.
For his part, Sheikh Eng. Mohammed bin Abdullah bin Majid Al Qasimi, Director of Building Permits Department pointed out that last year witnessed the completion of 5156 engineering transactions.
He pointed out that the administration has endeavored to promote and develop the engineering culture of the municipal working team and the competent authorities at the level of the emirate through the initiatives, workshops and periodic lectures presented in the main municipality building.
He pointed out that a series of lectures and specialized training programs have been presented to raise the efficiency of the engineers of consulting offices, construction contracting companies and other municipal engineers in the emirate and related departments in order to raise the scientific, practical and technical efficiency.
For his part, Eng. Yaqoub Al Zarouni, Director of Engineering said that during the past year, 2568 certificates of achievement have been issued at a growth rate of 17% over 2017, ensuring the availability of residential, commercial and industrial units ready for exploitation and creating a state of economic mobility and growth in investment rates in the Emirate.
He pointed out that the maintenance and demolition department issued 382 maintenance permits for residential, commercial and industrial buildings, 74 demolition permits, inspected 388 abandoned sites and took necessary action. 103 technical reports were also submitted to the Committee for the Settlement of Rental Disputes and 304 technical reports of the Committee on Dispute Resolution Construction.
