The UAE is the Arab world’s 15th largest commodity exporter

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has advanced 4 times in the area of ​​commodity exports during 2017, ranking 15th in the world, surpassing Russia, Spain and Switzerland while maintaining its Arab, Middle Eastern and African leadership, according to the World Trade Statistics and Forecasts Report issued by the World Trade Organization (WTO) During an extended press conference. The country also advanced a single ranking in commodity imports to become 18th in the world.
The report includes annual monitoring of international trade statistics during 2017 and its projections for 2018 and 2019, highlights the global trade movement during 2017, and compares global trade for the period 2010-2017.
The report also pointed out that the UAE ranked 21st in the world and the first in Arab exports of services, as well as the 17th position in the world and the first in the Arab countries in the imports of services.
In 2017, it witnessed a growth of 20.4% in exports of goods compared to 2016, compared to 10.7% of global growth in commodity exports and 18% growth of Middle East merchandise exports during the same period. The UAE achieved the highest percentage of the top 15 exporters in the world.
On the import side, the country’s imports of goods declined in 2017 compared to 2016 by -1.1%, while the world commodity imports increased by 10.7%, and the imports of the Middle East increased by 1.1% during the same period.
In 2017, it grew by 7.5% compared to 2016 at a value of US $ 70 billion, compared to a growth of 1.9% in the UAE’s imports of services during the same period, amounting to US $ 84 billion. Globally, service exports increased by 7.4% and imports by 6.5% during the same period.
