Consumer prices in United Arab Emirates fell 2.5% year-on-year in March of 2019, the same pace as in the previous month.
It was the third straight month of deflation, as prices continued to dropped for housing and
· utilities (-6.5% compared to -5.9% in February 2019)
· Transport (-5.3% compared to -7.0% in February 2019)
· Food and beverages (-0.7% compared to -1.9% February 2019)
· Medical care (-0.2% compared to -0.1% February 2019).
Meantime, prices increased softer for:
§ Furniture & household equipment (1.8% compared to 2.8% in February 2019)
§ Miscellaneous goods & services (0.2% compared to 1.2% in February 2019)
§ Textiles, clothing & footwear (6.8% compared to 9.3% in February 2019)
§ Recreation & culture (4.1% compared to 3.3% in February 2019) rose faster.
Meanwhile, inflation was steady for:
· Education (at 1.4%)
· Communication (at 0.2%)
· Tobacco (at 2.5%).
On a monthly basis, consumer prices went down 0.6 percent, after decreasing 0.3% in February. Inflation Rate in the United Arab Emirates averaged 2.12 percent from 1990 until 2019, reaching an all time high of 12.30 percent in December of 2008 and a record low of -2.50 percent in February of 2019
