TThe World Bank Honors United Arab Emirates for its Lead in 2018 Property Management Business Report

The Dubai Land Department has announced the closing of the first Arab Conference on Land and Property Management, hosted by the Emirate of Dubai on 26-28 February at the St. Regis – Al Habtoor City Hotel under the theme “Towards Sustainable Urban Development”.

According to a press release, “Media One” received a copy, the conference concluded by honoring the UAE for being ranked first in the Arab countries in the speed of real estate registration, and ranked tenth in the world on the Doing Business 2018 report on real estate registration, issued by the bank International. The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan was also honored for the development of its business during the past year, ranking 96th from the world level to 72th in the World Bank Real Estate Registration category.

Under the title “Dubai Declaration on Land Governance in the Arab States”, participants and representatives of governments, the private sector, civil society, academia, professionals, international and regional organizations and relevant stakeholders have enhanced regional cooperation, capacity development and innovation in land management and real estate reform;  leading to Promoting social and economic development in the Arab region.

Among the most important recommendations are the recognition of the importance of land on the global agenda, highlighting the need to modernize land management, management and governance in Arab countries to ensure full protection of property rights, promote social and economic development and investment, economic diversification, facilitate improved service delivery and ensure the sustainable use of land resources for current and future generations.

One of the recommendations identified the most pressing challenges, particularly those relating to land, facing the Arab region, including: the need for full protection of property rights for all segments of the population, land use and land-related conflicts, difficult access to land for women, youth and marginalized communities at affordable prices, land tenure security for urban and rural populations of the vulnerable, the accuracy and effectiveness of land management processes and practices, and the need to improve the capacity of regional and local institutions to address the challenges of land management in a comprehensive and integrated manner to ensure management Khaddam sustainable land and natural resources.
