The Department of Economic Development in Ajman hosted an awareness workshop on the prohibited and counterfeit telecommunications devices of the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA).
The workshop, which was presented by Mr. Idruss Hashemi during the Commission, aimed to familiarize the inspectors with the latest methods of monitoring this type of equipment in order to enhance the efficiency of the inspection process and to control the negative practices in the markets of the Emirate.
The workshop, which was organized by the Ajman Economy in cooperation with the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA), comes as a means of cooperation between the two sides in the field of dealing with prohibited goods and counterfeit goods for communication devices. The aim is to introduce the inspectors to these devices and limit their circulation in the local market. The Department of Control is keen to cooperate with all State institutions and bodies to reduce negative phenomena, thus contributing to protecting the rights of consumers and all concerned parties.
During the workshop, the lecturer pointed out that the Decree Law No. 3 of 2003 and its amendments concerning the regulation of the telecommunications sector stipulated the competence of the TRA to issue all permits and licenses for telecommunication devices that are part of the telecommunications network, used or used to provide telecommunications services, has issued a policy to regulate the importation and registration of its equipment, and has initiated in cooperation with the establishments operating in the State to issue licenses for the import and distribution of such products within the country.

He added that the Authority has sought to cooperate with all governmental and local institutions in the country to limit these phenomena, whether importing unlicensed products or selling unlicensed stores, and coordinating with the State Customs Authority to control products at various outlets. Coordination and cooperation with the economic circles through joint campaigns on direct sales outlets, to deter violators and protect consumers of this type of products
