Jordan:The sales tax is included in the gold stamp fee and not the excise tax on jewelry

The Director General of the Standards Standards Institution, Dr. Haidar Al-Zuban, said in a statement issued on Monday that what was published about canceling sales tax, which amounts to 16 percent on the stamping of gold jewelry, is incorrect.

He added that what was done during a meeting held in the institution with representatives of the General Union of the owners of shops and the formulation of jewelry and jewelry, it was agreed that the compensation fees stamped under the last amendment is inclusive of all taxes, including sales tax.

Dr. Al-Zebain confirmed that what was agreed upon with the representatives of the union is to clarify the mechanism and how to calculate the fee replacement fee, where the sales tax by lump sum will be met on the fee of stamp duty, which will achieve the same material return, within the new stamp duty of 75 piasters on Domestic industry and dinars and 75 piasters on imported.

The Director General of the Standards and Metrology Organization stressed that “there is no cancellation of the sales tax on this sector.” He called for the accuracy of the publication of the news, especially concerning the duties and taxes, which would cause confusion in the market if the news is incorrect.
