The UAE provided 37.4% of Japan’s oil imports in June

Tokyo, August 5 / Japan’s oil imports from the United Arab Emirates amounted to 25.63 million barrels, equivalent to 37.4% of total imports in June 2023, according to data from the Natural Resources and Energy Agency of the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.
During June, Japan imported about 68.5 million barrels, of which the share of Arab oil was 97.3%, at a rate of 66.7 million barrels. It came from four Arab countries in addition to the UAE, which are Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, and the Sultanate of Oman.

Japan imported 28.39 million barrels from Saudi Arabia, at a rate of 41.4% of total imports in June. Kuwait came third with 6.91 million barrels (10.1%), then Qatar with 3.31 million barrels (4.8%), while Japan imported from the Sultanate of Oman 1.5%. , or just over a million barrels.
The rest of Japan’s oil imports came from Southeast Asia (1.2%), Central and South America (0.7%), the United States of America (0.4%), and the same amount from Brunei and Oceania (0.3%), which shows a historical record increase in Japan’s dependence on oil. Arab countries.
These numbers represent the quantities of oil that arrived at the refineries, tanks and warehouses located in the ports of Japan during June 2023.
