The United Arab Emirates (UAE) will participate in the Arab Economic Committee of the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), which started today at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the Arab League.
The delegation was headed by HE Mohammed Saleh Shalwah, Advisor to the Minister of Economy.
The Committee will discuss over the two days the economic file of the Arab League Council at the level of the next Arab Summit in its 31st session to be held next March, in addition to following up the implementation of the decisions of the 103rd session of the Economic and Social Council and the activity of the General Secretariat between the 103rd and 104th sessions of the Council in social and economic aspects.
The committee will also discuss a report on the follow-up to the implementation of the resolutions of the Arab Development, Economic and Social Summit at its fourth session held in Beirut last January.
The Economic Committee will discuss the follow-up to the implementation of the resolutions of the Arab-African Summit in its fourth session held in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea and the preparation for the fifth summit, in addition to the follow-up to the implementation of the Riyadh Declaration issued by the Fourth Summit of Arab and South American countries held in Riyadh in November 2015.
The committee will discuss the focus of the session: the Greater Arab Free Trade Area, the developments of the Arab Customs Union, and an item on investment in the Arab countries.
The Economic Committee will also discuss a number of periodic items related to supporting the Palestinian economy, the unified Arab economic report for 2019, the unified Arab speech for the joint annual meeting of the IMF and the World Bank for 2019 and the Arab food security report for 2018, in addition to a number of issues related to the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development and discussion of the reports and resolutions of the councils.
