The Ministerial Meeting of the Arab Economic Council appreciates the efforts of the UAE in the field of childhood

The 104th session of the ministerial meeting of the Arab Economic and Social Council reviewed a wide range of items, most notably the discussion of the economic and social file at the level of the next Arab summit scheduled for March 2020, in addition to discussing a report on the follow-up to the implementation of a number of resolutions.
Head of the UAE delegation participating in the ministerial meeting, which is held at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States in Cairo in the presence of ministers and senior officials of Arab member states, HE Eng.
The ministerial meeting discussed the UAE’s efforts to pay attention to childhood and praised the pioneering march of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, in supporting Arab children and building Arab generations that are capable of leading future societies.
The opening of the permanent seat of the Arab Children’s Parliament in Sharjah was welcomed on April 7 this year, and its first session was held on 24 July 2019.
Dr. Mohammed Nasser Al Ahbabi, Director General of the UAE Space Agency, spoke during the interventions of speakers on the launch of the Arab Space Cooperation Initiative and the launch of the Arab satellite project 813, reviewing the UAE National Space Program from vision to reality by showing the stages of the development of the program and components of the UAE space sector with a focus. The Emirates Space Agency, the first space agency in the region, has the primary mission to develop this vital sector, promote specialized human cadres, relevant scientific research, establish international partnerships, regulatory laws as well as the Mars mission.
During the meeting, they praised the level of progress achieved by the UAE in the field of space and thanked the State for its efforts in supporting and strengthening the partnership between Arab countries in the field of space and its endeavor to establish an Arab space agency.
He also praised the positive steps that have been taken to implement the initiative of establishing the Arab Space Cooperation Group and urged Arab countries to cooperate with the Emirates Space Agency to accomplish this group and adopt its statute.
HE Eng. Mohammed Ahmed bin Abdul Aziz Al Shehhi stressed the importance of the topics on the agenda of the Economic and Social Council during its current session, which touches the vital requirements on the agenda of Arab integration. He pointed out that the agenda focuses on strengthening the capabilities of member states in key developmental files, including women and children. In addition to the efforts exerted to activate the file of the Arab free trade zone and the customs union.
He added that the UAE supports all efforts related to the development of joint Arab action, especially in the economic and social fields, pointing out that the hosting of the permanent seat of the Arab Parliament for the children of Sharjah comes to strengthen the developmental message of the UAE and its efforts in adopting a number of files that constitute a key bet to meet. The agenda of the ministerial meeting of the Economic and Social Council reviewed the items included discussion of the Greater Arab Free Trade Area and the developments of the Arab Customs Union, the investment situation in the Arab countries and ways of developing them, in addition to the periodic economic issues and topics of the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development and reports and decisions of the ministerial councils and committees.
The social committee’s articles included the statutes of the Arab Council for Population and Development, a project for the protection of women in the informal sector, an initiative to empower unemployed youth under social protection, in addition to discussing Arab international cooperation in the social and developmental fields and other emerging issues related to the draft Arab strategy for economic and social empowerment. The Arab Center for Economic Empowerment and Empowerment Studies, Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Inclusion, Equality, Social Economy, Solidarity and Welfare of the Elderly The Arab Family Economic Projects will also be able to identify the success stories of families’ contributions and value their contribution in improving their social conditions.
