The Arab-Japanese Dialogue on the Use of Intellectual Property Systems for Economic, Social and Cultural Development in the Era of Digital Transformation started today in Tokyo, Japan, organized by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in cooperation with the UAE Ministry of Economy and the Japanese Patent Office. The UAE delegation to the event was headed by HE Eng. Mohammed Ahmed bin Abdul Aziz Al Shehhi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Economy for Economic Affairs, with the membership of HE Khalid Omran Al Ameri, UAE Ambassador to Japan, HE Khalfan Al Suwaidi, Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Economy for the Intellectual Property and Entrepreneurship Sector, and a number of relevant officials in the Ministry.
The two-day dialogue aims to discuss strategies and mechanisms for the integration of modern digital technologies and IP applications to stimulate innovation and new inventions that support sustainable development and enhance the efficiency of IP practices.
In his speech during the dialogue, Eng. Mohammed Ahmed bin Abdul Aziz Al Shehhi said that the UAE is continuing its efforts to develop the necessary infrastructure to improve IP practices and adopt clear strategies to enhance dialogue and cooperation with partners in this vital sector, in order to develop the legislative and institutional aspects governing For IP applications.
His Excellency stressed that the UAE is one of the most prepared countries in the region to develop intellectual property systems based on advanced digital technology.It has adopted sustainable strategies for artificial intelligence and the fourth industrial revolution, and has worked over the past two decades to develop a knowledge-based economy, innovation and research and development.
“The UAE was the first country in the region to launch an e-government, which later became a smart government, in light of the vision and guidance of the wise leadership, which stressed the need to provide better government services faster and more efficient, and our efforts in this area to raise satisfaction levels People and improve the quality of life and working methods. ”
Al Shehhi added that the UAE Artificial Intelligence Strategy is an integrated framework to improve government performance, accelerate achievements, develop services and infrastructure and launch initiatives that contribute to building the future economy in the country through advanced artificial intelligence technologies, the first major project in the UAE Centennial 2071, targeting several sectors. Through this strategy, the UAE government is the first government in the world to invest in artificial intelligence, and has appointed the world’s first Minister of Artificial Intelligence. .
Al Shehhi said: “The UAE’s efforts in this vital area continue. The UAE government recently opened Mohammed Bin Zayed University for Artificial Intelligence, which aims to enable students, companies and government institutions to increase the use of artificial intelligence. Private sector initiatives, increased productivity, and a strong R&D base. This advanced technology can save 50% of the annual costs of government work, ”he said, stressing the importance of this forum to exchange ideas and experiences to enhance the mutual use of digital transformation technologies. His Excellency stressed that the UAE is keen to develop and attract investments to the sector of artificial intelligence and various projects based on the technologies of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, such as big data and the Internet of things, which will contribute to raising the GDP of the country, pointing out that the integration of artificial intelligence and modern technology in intellectual property systems It contributes to the more efficient management and operation of patent, trademark and intellectual works systems, and will support all efforts to develop economically, socially and culturally.
For his part, Ambassador Khaled Omran Al Ameri said that strengthening the UAE-Japan partnership is a very important step in the framework of active bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
