Sharjah wins the GFC Financial Group Award

The Government of Sharjah, represented by the Central Finance Department, won the “Sovereign Debt Finance Deal of the Year” award in recognition of the successful issuance of the “Panda” bonds worth 2 billion yuan, equivalent to 316 million US dollars.
This award recognizes the success of the continuous efforts of the Emirate of Sharjah since February 2018 following the completion of a long approval process and new procedures compared to the global markets and ultimately an excellent financial result through the issuance of the first Chinese yuan denominated bonds to the government in the Middle East, Chinese investors.
The award was received by Waleed Al Sayegh, Director General of the Central Department of Finance, Sharjah, at the GCC Middle East Bonds, Loans and Sukuk Awards held at the InterContinental Festival City Hotel in Dubai.
