China raises emergency response to typhoons, floods to third level

BEIJING, Sept. 14, China raised its emergency response to level three yesterday as typhoon “Moiva” approached the country’s eastern coastal region.

The Chinese news agency “Xinhua” reported that the National Headquarters for Flood Control and Drought Relief has raised the level of emergency response and taken relevant measures.

Typhoon “Moifa” is expected to make landfall in coastal areas from Wenling to Zhoushan in Zhejiang Province on Wednesday, according to the weather forecast.

It is worth noting that in China there is a four-level emergency response system for flood control, with the first level being the most severe.
