Morocco renews fishing agreement with Europe

 15-01-2019 MEDIA IN \ AGENCIES
Morocco and the European Union on Monday renewed their fishing agreement with the Moroccan Sahara, which the European Court refused to include as “disputed territories.”
The agreement covers the fishing zone from Cape Spartil in northern Morocco to the White Cape in the south of the kingdom, MAP said.
The agreement, which was first signed on July 24 in Rabat, aims to strengthen the strategic partnership between Morocco and the European Union.
The new agreement between Morocco and the European Union, in particular, sets out fishing areas and conditions for European fleet access, with an annual transfer of 40 to 52.2 million euros (plus 30 percent).
At the end of February, the European Court ruled that the fishing agreement, which includes the Sahara region, was null and void. Any agreement should not include the Sahara as disputed areas.
