National carriers are preparing for the summer with seasonal flights

Wataniya carriers revealed their preparations for the summer travel season by announcing seasonal flights to unique summer destinations around the world, in addition to strengthening and increasing the number of daily and weekly flights to the most popular destinations during the summer. Expectations indicate a significant growth in the demand for travel during the summer season, as officials of the national carriers recently expected a significant growth in travel during the summer from the UAE, in addition to the expectations of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) of increasing travelers’ confidence regarding the arrival of travel to its peak. In the summer travel season, which corresponds to the data for the first quarter of 2023, down to reservations for the period between May and September. The data issued by “Iata” indicates an increase in the demand rate of 35% compared to the levels of 2022, and the survey conducted by “Iata”, which included 4,700 travelers in 11 countries, showed that 79% of the travelers surveyed were planning a trip in the period from June to August 2023.
Regarding the plans of the national carriers, Fly Dubai intends to launch seasonal flights to 9 destinations in the summer, namely: Bodrum and Trabzon in Turkey, Dubrovnik in Croatia, Mykonos and Santorini in Greece, Tivat in Montenegro, and Batumi in Georgia, in addition to new destinations, such as Corfu in Greece and Cagliari in Sicily, and the airline will increase the number of flights to a number of destinations, including Milan-Bergamo, Pisa, Pattaya and Krabi.
Flydubai is raising its network in Italy to five destinations, with the start of its flights to Cagliari on June 22, 2023, where today it serves: Catania, Cagliari, Naples, Milan, Bergamo and Pisa, with 24 flights per week.
In detail, Naples trips increase from four to seven trips per week, starting from June 19, to continue after the summer as a daily trip, and to Pisa, trips increase from three trips to four trips per week, starting from June 20, while in Milan Bergamo, the number of trips increased from five to seven flights per week, starting in April.
Since the beginning of 2023, flydubai has expanded its network with the start of its operations to St. Petersburg in Russia, Pattaya and Krabi in Thailand, Qaisumah, Al-Ula, Jizan, Najran and Neum in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Chimkent in Kazakhstan, Ashgabat in Turkmenistan, Mogadishu in Somalia and Milano-Bergamo in Italy. Seat capacity grows by 20% during the busiest summer period, from July 1 to September 30, compared to the same period in 2022.
The flydubai network has grown to reach today 120 destinations in 52 countries around the year, of which more than 75 of these destinations did not previously have direct air links with Dubai or were not previously served by direct flights from Dubai.
Seasonal trips
According to Air Arabia, seasonal flights will be launched from Sharjah to two destinations in the summer, from June 23 to September 7, which are Antalya in Turkey at a rate of daily flights, and Trabzon in Turkey at a rate of two flights per day. The airline indicated that the number of flights will be increased to Amman by 5 daily flights, Tbilisi by three daily flights, Alexandria by 3 daily flights, Sohag by 5 daily flights, Beirut by two daily flights, and Baku by two daily flights. With regard to “Arabia Abu Dhabi”, daily seasonal flights will be launched from June 22 to June 30 to Trabzon, and it will become 5 weekly flights to Trabzon after June 30. An additional weekly flight to Alexandria will be added to the existing three weekly flights, starting from the 26th of next June.
New trips
With regard to the “Wiz Air Abu Dhabi” company, the company intends, starting from the next summer season, to launch flights to each of Bishkek in Kyrgyzstan, with the resumption of the flight program to each of Larnaca, Santorini, and Sohag in Egypt, and “Wiz Air Abu Dhabi” announced at the beginning of the year. New flights are being operated from Abu Dhabi towards Antalya in Turkey, with flights re-operating to Salalah in Oman. Wizz Air will start operating its flights to Antalya as of June 1, 2023 on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, while flights to Salalah will start from June 1, 2023 on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

According to what was announced by “Etihad Airways”, five destinations will be launched this year, including 3 summer destinations, as the destinations include the launch of new flights between Abu Dhabi and Lisbon on June 18th, and the resumption of the carrier’s summer flights to the Spanish city of Malaga on June 18th, and to Mykonos, Greece, as of June 18th. From June 16, seasonal winter tours include Copenhagen and Dusseldorf. The total number of destinations of the “Etihad Airways” network reaches more than 65 destinations, including cargo destinations, while the current fleet size is about 75 aircraft.
Etihad Airways had launched the summer offer with discounts on economy and business class tickets to selected destinations on its global network.
The airline will increase capacity to a number of destinations to meet the growing demand for travel, especially on its flights to London, with the resumption of operation of 4 Airbus A380 aircraft in various stages, starting in the summer of 2023, in addition to increasing its flights to Toronto, starting from May 30. By operating a new weekly flight between Abu Dhabi and Toronto, in addition to the other six current weekly flights, to provide passengers with a daily travel service between the two destinations, in addition to its flights to Frankfurt, by adding 4 new flights beginning this month, bringing the total to 11 weekly flights.
