Dubai Customs welcomes the accession of 15 companies to the membership of the approved economic operator

Dubai Customs, during the second UAE Customs Week 2019, organized the third ceremony to honor 15 new companies on the occasion of joining the approved economic operator program and receiving the certificates of certified economic operators, bringing the total number of members of the program to 55 companies.
The ceremony was held today at the Union Museum in Dubai Ahmed Mahbub Musabeh, Director of Dubai Customs and a number of government officials and companies members of the program.
The program of the economic operator, which has been officially established under the umbrella of the Federal Customs Authority, has witnessed a significant development in attracting new members and signing mutual recognition agreements with member countries of the Global Program. The most recent of which was the mutual recognition agreement of the UAE-China Economic Operator Program in December 2018, And customs cooperation between the two countries, where China is the UAE’s first trading partner. In July 2017, the UAE signed a mutual recognition agreement with South Korea. In November of that year, an action plan was signed with Saudi Arabia.
According to Ahmed Mahbub Musabah, the percentage of customs data generated through the economic operator’s program rose to 34 percent of the total number of customs data for Dubai Customs in 2018 compared to 23 percent in 2017. It is expected to increase to 50 percent by 2020, Circle plan.
He expressed the hope that the program will contribute significantly to the integrated efforts locally and nationally to lead the Expo 2020 and to make history in this global forum. In keeping with this unique global event, Dubai plans to host the fifth World Conference of the Approved Economic Operator 2020 Program. One of the requirements of the WTO Agreement on Trade Facilitation – played a key role in the UAE’s leading position in the Global Customs Competitiveness Index. He pointed out that the Federal Customs Authority, in cooperation with the local customs administrations, aims to maximize the benefit of the approved companies in the approved economic operator program by signing mutual recognition agreements between the UAE and the countries of the world so that locally accredited companies can benefit from the advantages of the system in terms of procedures and incentives in the partner countries .
