Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry stresses Team work of its members

Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) stressed the importance of the proposals and initiatives provided by the sectoral working groups working under its umbrella which contribute to enhancing the service of the private sector and enhancing the attractiveness of the business environment in Sharjah, which will positively affect the emirate’s economy and enhance the contribution of all industrial, Emirate at various levels.

This came during the first quarterly meeting of 2019 with the representatives of the working groups hosted recently by the Chamber under the chairmanship of Abdulla Sultan Al Owais, Chairman of Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, in the presence of Mohammed Ahmed Amin, Acting General Manager, Ibrahim Rashid Al Jarwan, Director of Economic and Marketing Relations at the Chamber and Jamal Saeed Buzangal, and Amjad Awad Al-Karim, head of the working groups, as well as heads and deputies working groups of industry, hotels, shopping centers, hotel apartments and the trade of used cars.

Mr. Abdullah Al-Owais affirmed the commitment of Sharjah Chamber as the first representative of the private sector in the Emirate of Sharjah to hold this kind of interactive meetings with representatives of the working groups on a regular basis to get a closer look at the reality and affairs of the various economic sectors in the emirate and to discuss opportunities that allow them to grow, in the local, regional and global markets.

He also stressed the keenness of the Permanent Chamber to harness the efforts of all its departments and institutions to serve the sectoral working groups, follow up their work and recommendations, and support their innovative initiatives based on the importance and role of these groups in development, economic development and private business sectors.

The President commended the efforts of the representatives of the working groups in order to achieve the desired objectives to serve the interests of the Emirate of Sharjah and the business community.

He pointed out the achievements of the working groups during the past year and the challenges they succeeded in overcoming them in close cooperation with the chamber. He stressed the importance of following up the reality of the market and its variables and needs to ensure balance in production and diversity, with a focus on creativity and innovation and benefiting from modern technology.

During the meeting, the heads of the working groups reviewed the previous achievements of their groups as well as the definition of their plans for the next stage and the most important challenges facing their sectors and affect the economic activity. They expressed their thanks and appreciation to the Chamber for the support given to their groups and praised the role played by the Chamber to achieve the interests of the business sector in the emirate.

In his remarks Saeed Ghanim Al Suwaidi, Chairman of the Real Estate Sector Working Group reviewed the real estate sector in Sharjah and the extent of cooperation and coordination with the government agencies with the representative committee of the real estate sector which resulted from the great success of the real estate investment fair “ECRS.” In highlighting the growing real estate investment opportunities by providing investors and visitors with the opportunity to meet with business owners, decision makers and leading real estate companies, as well as opening opportunities for new partnerships in addition to reviewing and modifying some decisions that enhance the environment of the competitive sector.

 Lalou Samoel, Chairman of the Industrial Sector Group, highlighted the industrial reality in Sharjah and the Chamber’s contribution to overcoming the challenges and developing effective solutions. He stressed that the industry is one of the main priorities of the emirate. The industrial sector plays a major role in the national economy. 3 per cent in 2018, reinforcing its role in supporting the development process in the Emirate of Sharjah.

Ibrahim Al-Zahab, vice chairman of the used car trade committee, said that the used car market witnessed a significant increase in sales and promotion of the market’s status as a regional center in the car trade.

 Salima Hallak, member of the representative committee of the hotel industry group, said that the hotel sector has proposed a number of tourism and community activities which will be implemented in cooperation with the local departments and institutions in the emirate. It also aims at activating the economic and tourism movement and intensifying events and promotional campaigns to activate tourism movement during the summer. Sharjah as a leading destination for family tourism.

The most important achievements of the Shopping Centers Sector Working Group were the activation of cooperation with the concerned departments and the coordination in directing the promotions in the coming period in a suitable manner.

The Sharjah Chamber seeks to be the most effective means of communication between the business sector, the Chamber and the public sector to contribute to the challenges and opportunities in building an integrated structure that meets the needs and aspirations of the economic sectors and supports efforts to achieve sustainable development.
