“Responsibility” educates employees of government agencies on the role of the family in protecting children from drugs

The Abu Dhabi Center for Legal and Community Awareness at the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department, “Responsibility”, organized an awareness lecture for partners from government agencies about the guiding role of the family in protecting children from drugs, entitled “The addict is a victim, not a criminal”, as part of the expanded awareness campaign launched by the Center for Drug Control. With the aim of raising awareness of the dangers of substance abuse and addiction.

The campaign, which was launched last May and will last for six months, comes in implementation of the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Presidential Court and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department, to consolidate the legal culture and spread community awareness.

In this context, Counselor Dr. Mohammed Rashid Al-Dhanhani, Director of the Abu Dhabi Center for Legal and Community Awareness “Responsibility”, reviewed, during a virtual remote lecture for a number of government agency employees, the causes leading to the abuse of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, which are divided into individual, family and societal causes, in addition to To the preventive role of parents to protect their children from drug abuse and psychotropic substances, and their role in the treatment and rehabilitation of drug abuse children.

Counselor Al-Dhanhani gave advice to parents on how to properly educate their children and ways to deal with each age group, by introducing and educating them about the dangers of falling into the clutches of drug abuse and the dangerous effects addiction causes, listening to them carefully and discussing with them any wrong behavior they do and avoiding anger. And guide them to the right ways, support them, take into account their feelings and follow them constantly, and teach children the culture of rejection and leave the place in the event of any negative behavior.

He also focused on the need to occupy children’s spare time with what is useful according to the activities they enjoy, share their identities, help them define and achieve their goals, help them choose good friends and guide them towards the right behavior with them, and educate them about the need to draw information from reliable sites and not to drift behind wrong behaviors that are not acceptable. It only brings misery and heartbreak.
