The Saudi Standards Authority Launches the alignment project between the National Quality Strategy and Vision 2030

The Saudi Organization for Standardization, Metro-logy and Quality has launched a project to harmonize the national quality strategy with the vision of the Kingdom 2030, with the participation of a wide range of experts and specialists in the field of quality from more than 32 governmental and private institutions in the various sectors of work, notably ministries and government bodies and a number of universities and professional and charitable societies, companies and factories. This came during the opening symposium of this project which was organized at the headquarters of the authority in Riyadh.

In this context,  Saad bin Othman Al Qasabi, Governor of the Standards Authority, said that this project is a continuation of the first phase of the national quality strategy project and in line with the Kingdom’s vision of leading national programs and initiatives aimed at improving the quality of all our services and products. It also aims to enable government and private entities to apply quality standards and practices.

He explained that the authority will work through this project to restructure and categorize the target sectors in the project based on the new government structures and the work axes of each sector.

The focus will also be on the legislative requirements and the identification of partners and experts for each field. He  also pointed out that all components and pillars of quality infrastructure are included in the final report of the strategy to highlight its role in enhancing the quality of the Kingdom, in addition to the inclusion of a part of the strategy for the King Abdul Aziz Award for Quality and highlighting its role in enhancing competitiveness to achieve the national institutional excellence model.

Dr. Al-Qasabi stressed that the Authority is striving to achieve quality outputs in this project, which will consolidate the culture of quality in all public and private sectors and enhance our services, in line with the ambitious directions of the Kingdom in its vision of the future.  This comes with stressing the need for integration between all organs, bodies and institutions from all sectors in dealing with this national project.

For his part, Dr. Ayed Omari, project supervisor, said that the national quality strategy was one of the most important outcomes of the 4th National Quality Conference. It is based mainly on the national vision of quality. The Kingdom is a global standard for quality and excellence in 2020, for this purpose, there will be development of quality infrastructure, the creation of a comprehensive program for the dissemination of quality culture, the support of the economy based on innovation, and the achievement of the highest quality of services and products.

The international expert on quality, Prof. Mohamed Zairi, reviewed a number of international best practices in quality and institutional excellence. He highlighted the experiences of Singapore, Korea, USA and others, stressing that quality is the cornerstone of economic development of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The inaugural seminar of the National Quality Strategy and Vision 2030 concluded with a panel discussion attended by Dr. Saad Al-Qassabi, Dr. Khalid Al-Awad, Dr. Ayed Al-Omari and Professor Mohammad Zairi.
