Internet shopping in Saudi Arabia for 201849.9

The Communications and Information Technology Commission (CITC) revealed the first results of the survey of the ICT market in the Kingdom in 2018, which showed that the percentage of online shopping in 2018 increased to 49.9% compared to 47.90% in 2017 and 37.3% in 2016.
The results of the study, which will be reviewed by the Authority with several studies in the ICT Indicators Forum tomorrow, show that females are the top online shopping for the year 2018 at 51.7%, while the percentage of males is 48.6%.
Online shopping rates varied in the study of 10000 users of telecommunications services, by age group. The age group of 20 to 24 years was at the top of online shopping categories with 65.20% of Internet users followed by the age group of 30 to 34 years 63.20%, then the age group from 25 to 29 years by 61.80%.
The study revealed that Al Jawf is the highest online shopping area in the Kingdom with 65.20% of Internet users, followed by Hail with 62.90% and Eastern Province by 55.20%.
The most prominent goods purchased in the Internet were “tangible goods” in 2018. Clothing, footwear and accessories were 69.70%, and computers and smartphones were 46.90%.
The study showed that over the last three years, the use of electronic payment methods for online shopping varied, with 41.10% of online shoppers in 2018 compared to 37.70% in 2017 and 21.40% in 2016.
The online payment methods are distributed in several ways, including online banking services that acquired 34.10% of the participants, followed by online withdrawal cards with 28.10%, and online payment services such as PayPal at 5.30% %, Prepaid gift cards or e-vouchers by 4.10%.
