Jordan: 180 million dinars for renewable energy projects

The Director General of the National Electricity Company Eng. Abdul-Fattah Dardakah, said that renewable energy projects impose on the national company cost up to 180 million dinars, to improve the capacity of the electricity network.
Al-Daradka said during a press conference held on Sunday to announce the launch of the conference “Challenges and impediments to the future of electric power systems” on Tuesday under the patronage of Prime Minister Dr. Hani Al-Mulqi. The cost of the company’s capacity is 350 million dinars annually, To about 200 million dinars, noting that the cost of salaries and other expenses of the National Electricity Company up to about one million dinars annually.
The conference aims to enhance cooperation and exchange of experiences among the concerned sectors in the energy and electricity sectors and discuss challenges and impediments to the future of electric power systems, he said.
“There is great government interest in investing in green energy, which helps to reduce costs,” he said, adding that the Kingdom is keeping pace with developments related to renewable energy through the development of legislations that encourage and attract investments in this vital and important sector.
He predicted that the contribution of renewable energy (sun and wind) in the total energy mixture in the Kingdom of 2021 to 25% of the total electricity generated.
He pointed out that the solar energy projects in the Kingdom went through three stages, which started in 2016 with 10 projects and continues until 2021, reaching 2,700 MW, of which 715 MW is wind power and the rest is solar energy.
Al-Darakke expressed the readiness of the National Electricity Company for electric loads expected during the summer, which reached last year to 3300 megawatts, stressing that the capacity of the company will generate more than 4000 MW to meet the expected electrical loads.
The Jordanian National Electricity Company seeks to exploit the renewable energy to produce electricity through the implementation of the “Green Corridor” project, a length of 150 kilometers linking the various sites in the Kingdom.
He expected the completion of the Green Corridor project to be ready for operation by the end of this year. The carrier will provide 1,200 MW of renewable energy from the first and second phase projects of the private sector to produce electricity from solar energy and government projects in the fields of renewable energy.
The project will help to transport 800 to 1,000 MW of renewable energy from the south of the Kingdom to the load centers.
The committee will discuss the challenges facing the energy and electricity sector and the exchange of opinions and experiences among the specialists in the affairs of energy and electricity locally, regionally and internationally, and allow the representatives of the industry to raise their problems and develop plans to address them. Problems.
