%4.7 Consumer price increase in the GCC countries

GCC consumer prices rose in February 2018 compared with the same month last year and reached 4.7% excluding housing.

The statistical center attributed the increase in consumer prices to 55.4 per cent, 9.4 per cent, restaurants and hotels by 6.5 per cent, food and beverages by 5.2 per cent, culture and entertainment by 2.9 per cent, education by 2.8 per cent and miscellaneous goods and services by 2.5 per cent. Health and clothing by 2.2 per cent, furniture and household equipment by 1.7 per cent and communications by 1.4 per cent and clothing and footwear by 2.2 per cent.

With respect to the contributions of the major groups to the general Gulf inflation, the transport group in February 2018 contributed the highest contribution of 1.5 percentage points to the overall Gulf inflation rate of 4.7 percent, the food and beverage group by 1.4 percentage points, the tobacco group and the restaurant and hotel group by 0.5 percentage points Furniture and miscellaneous goods and services by 0.2 percentage points each
