The Japanese Ministry of Finance announced today that the country’s merchandise trade surplus last month reached 62.121 billion yen. Japan’s exports increased last month by 9.8% to reach 9.648 trillion yen, while they were expected to grow by 9.1% after contracting by 0.2% during the previous month. On the other hand, Japan’s imports declined last December by 6.8% annually to reach 9.586 trillion yen, while analysts had expected a decline of 5.3%, after a decline of 11.9% during the previous month.
