The report showed that UAE residents stayed 9.5 million hotel nights in Dubai during 2022, constituting about 25% of the total hotel nights booked, with the average length of their stay reaching 2.8 nights, up from only 1.9 nights in 2019, which reflects the increasing popularity of holiday packages. The department indicated that strong growth indicators appeared in the annual increase in average occupancy from 67% in 2021 to 73% last year, which is one of the highest occupancy rates in the world, with the supply of rooms being much larger compared to other tourist destinations around the world, adding These levels were achieved with a 16% increase in new room supply. The size of the hotel market rose to 146,496 rooms in 804 hotels, by the end of 2022, compared to 126,120 rooms in 741 establishments, three years ago, an increase of 16% and 9%, respectively.

The report said that the number of hotel rooms is on track to exceed 152,000 in 2024, which reflects the city’s enduring appeal. He added that what also enhanced Dubai’s reputation was that hotel operators in the city clearly exceeded the previous record results for the year 2019, across all other key performance indicators in 2022, as occupied room nights reached a record level of 37.43 million last year, an increase of 19% compared to In 2021 (31.47 million), and 17% compared to 2019.

 

 

 

 

The average daily price in the city of 536 dirhams increased by 19% on an annual basis, and 29% compared to 2019, while available room revenue increased by 30%, compared to 2021, and 25% in 2019, to reach 391 dirhams.

The report explained that the city’s rapidly growing budget hotel sector, which consists of one- to three-star hotels, as well as hotel apartments, attracted the highest occupancy rates among all sectors in Dubai, at 74% and 79%, respectively, which highlighted the… Dubai’s continued success in reaching new source markets for visitors.

He explained that this performance of continued success has not affected what the 5-star luxury accommodation sector in the city is achieving, which represents 34% of the total room stock, with an average occupancy rate of 70%. In the luxury hotel category, famous locations such as Palm Jumeirah recorded an occupancy of 74% (up 8% YoY), Dubai Marina 77% (up 9% YoY), while other strong performers included Downtown Dubai with an occupancy rate of 68% (up 15% YoY), and Dubai World Trade Center 68% (an increase of 12% year on year).
