Consideration of the promotion of economic cooperation between the Gulf Cooperation Council and the Republic of Zambia

The Assistant Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council for Political Affairs and Gulf Negotiations, Dr. Abdulaziz Hamad Al Owaishek, met today with the Minister of State for Trade and Industry of the Republic of Zambia Kayola Siam to discuss the enhancement of cooperation between the two sides in the implementation of the agreement with COMESA based in Lusaka. The Assistant Secretary-General for Political Affairs and Negotiations stressed that strengthening relations with COMESA and its members is one of the starting points of the Gulf Action Plan to strengthen relations with the African continent in the political, economic and cultural fields in accordance with the previously signed agreement with the Organization for this purpose. And the Gulf business sector through access to foreign markets and enhanced food security and investment. The Minister of State invited Gulf investors to invest in the Republic of Zambia, and proposed to hold an investment conference in Zambia in 2018 in which representatives of the business sector of the two sides, government agencies, the GCC and COMESA will participate, stressing that Zambia is one of the fastest growing countries in the Organization. Investment opportunities in agriculture, minerals, tourism and infrastructure development.
