The Emirates Foundation for School Education has approved new updates to the timetable for exams at the end of the second semester for the current academic year (2022-2023). Updates on the distribution of grades and percentages in the examination paper.

It is scheduled that the final exams for the second semester, which will be held during the period (from 17 to 24 March next) in group (A) subjects, will be preceded by experimental tests to ensure the quality of the updated examination system, in the period (from 27 February to Next March 3), provided that group (B) exams will be applied (from 6 to 8 March).

Students will take the written exams for Arabic and English (on March 7 and 8), and tests for social and Islamic subjects (on March 13 and 14), provided that the written exams for the twelfth grade will be applied in the school.

Central exams

The institution stated that the exams for all grades are central, except for the first and second grades, which are prepared by the teacher, and are part of the formative assessment, and the third and fourth paper exams, as they are, explaining that the materials targeted for applying a paper part of the exam and another electronic one, include Arabic and English materials and mathematics for students of grades From the fifth to the twelfth, and physics for students from the ninth to the twelfth grade, and science for the students from the fifth to the ninth.

The developments included updates in the exam paper to consist of three parts, as 30% of the exam mark was allocated, and the questions in the first part focus on previous skills related to the curriculum, compared to 50% of the exam mark. The second part questions focus on the content of the curriculum, while the institution allocated in The third part covers 20% of the exam mark, and the questions focus on higher-order thinking skills, and it includes the (Bonus) questions. The content of the exams focuses on the curriculum course that was taught in the second semester.

According to the modified exam programming that Al-Khaleej reviewed about its content, students are set for two hours for each test, and there is no specific time in materials that contain a paper part and an electronic part. Rather, the student can move between all questions from paper to electronic and vice versa, with flexibility and smoothness. 20% of the full test mark is set for the paper-based part of each test.

The institution explained that creating a paper part of the exam is in the interest of the student, as the questions in this part have open answers and address the student’s higher thinking skills.
