Australian University of Canberra: Video games may lead to serious heart disorders in children

A new report warns that playing video games may provoke heart rhythm disturbances, thus threatening the lives of some children who are already at risk of heart disease.

Researchers at the University of Canberra School of Medicine in Australia collected reports on 22 children and adolescents who experienced heart rhythm disturbances while playing video games; In many cases, these children suddenly fainted, and some even had a heart attack.

The researchers stressed that it is not clear how common such incidents are, but in all of the cases included in their study, the children had underlying heart disease, even when they appeared at playtime.
