The price of an ounce of gold settled at 1400 US dollars an ounce, where the spot market recorded 1408.23 US dollars.
US gold contracts fell 0.2% to an ounce at settlement of $ 1,412.
Elsewhere, silver was down 0.1% at $ 15.22 and platinum fell 0.6% to $ 809.25 while the palladium ounce rose 1.8% to $ 1550.50.
