3.6% Tourism growth in Abu Dhabi and Dubai during the first three months of this year

The number of tourists in Abu Dhabi and Dubai grew by 3.6% during the first three months of this year compared to the same period in 2017. The hotel occupancy rate rose by 1.2% and room occupancy by 5.7%, according to the latest official statistics issued by the tourism departments in the UAE.
The hotel room rate rose by 3.9% to 4.8% respectively in Abu Dhabi and Dubai during the first three months of this year.
The preliminary reading of the quarterly review report issued by the Central Bank shows that the good growth recorded by the tourism sector during the first quarter of this year strengthened the sector’s support for the national economy.
Tourism in the UAE has been enjoying a steady growth, especially in business and conference tourism, which has experienced significant growth over the past years, supported by the availability of advanced infrastructure in the sector in general.
According to statistics, the growth of tourism in Abu Dhabi and Dubai, the two emirates most supportive of activity in the sector compared with other emirates of the country coincided with an increase in the number of Chinese tourists by 17.9% in the first quarter of this year compared to the same period in 2017 also increased the number of Indian tourists by 9.6% The number of British tourists also increased due to the rise in the pound sterling while the number of tourists from Pakistan and the Philippines declined.
It is noteworthy that the number of international tourists coming to the UAE grew by 6.5% in 2017 compared to 2016.
