30 billion dirhams surplus in the UAE government budget in the second quarter

The combined revenues of the UAE government (which includes the federal government in addition to local governments) recorded a significant increase during the second quarter of the year 2023, by 13.4%, after reaching 131.2 billion dirhams, compared to the first quarter in which it recorded 115.6 billion. The Ministry of Finance revealed via its website on Monday, when it announced government financial statistics data for the UAE, that the value of government expenditures reached 100.5 billion dirhams during the second quarter of this year, recording a surplus in government revenues amounting to 30.6 billion dirhams.

 

 

 

 

Miscellaneous income

 

The data showed that government revenues from taxes increased by 31% during the same period, after reaching 83.2 billion dirhams. Other revenues (the data did not clarify what they were) contributed 34% of the total value of revenues, after recording 44.1 billion dirhams, compared to 48.1 billion during the first quarter of this year. The results showed that social contributions revenues amounted to 3.8 billion dirhams during the second quarter, compared to 3.9 billion in the first quarter.

 

 

 

 

Expenses

 

The combined federal government expenditures during the second quarter of this year amounted to 100.5 billion dirhams, a growth of 10% compared to the same period in the first quarter, which recorded expenditures amounting to 91.6 billion dirhams. According to data revealed by the Ministry of Finance, 26% of expenditures, with a value amounting to 34.1 billion dirhams, went to the item (use of goods and services), on which the government increased expenditures, with a growth of 51% over the first quarter, in which it recorded 22.5 billion dirhams.

 

 

 

 

The data revealed that the salaries of government employees during the second quarter of 2023 grew by 2.4% after reaching 29.1 billion in compensation, compared to 28.4 billion in the first quarter. Statistics showed that government expenditures on social benefits amounted to 15.1 billion dirhams in the second quarter, compared to 16.2 billion dirhams during the first quarter. The figures showed that expenditures on financial subsidies increased by 29.4% after reaching 10.1 billion during the second quarter, compared to 7.8 billion during the first quarter. Various other expenses amounted to about 6 billion dirhams during the second quarter of 2023, after reaching 11.9 billion in the first quarter.
