Sharjah, January 24 / The sixth session of the “Sharjah Investment Forum”, organized by the Sharjah Foreign Direct Investment Office, “Invest in Sharjah”, brings together local, Arab and international ministries, institutions and governmental bodies, officials, thought leaders and economic experts on February 8 and 9 at the “Al Jawaher Center for Receptions and Conferences”. To discuss the future of the economy and the options available to investors to improve the economic scene for the better.

The list of participants in the forum, which is launched under the slogan “Redefining economies… towards a better economic future,” includes His Excellency Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy, who will present his vision on the current state of the economy and the government’s plans for economic growth, and His Excellency Algernon Yao, Minister of Commerce and Economic Development in the Government of Hong Kong. and Chung Kuk-kwan, Deputy Minister of Justice of the Hong Kong Government, who will present their insights on the strategies that have been employed to attract foreign investment and promote economic growth in Hong Kong.

More than 50 speakers from experts and executives of major investment companies and government officials representing participating governmental and semi-governmental bodies, departments and institutions, in addition to banks, chambers of commerce, private companies and public-interest institutions from several economic sectors, will participate in the forum sessions.

The forum begins its first day with two keynote speeches and four dialogue sessions dealing with several vital economic topics, including government mechanisms in the UAE to prepare an economy that meets the needs of the future, and presents a forward-looking vision about the virtual economy and the prospects it offers to investors.

In embodying the slogan of its new session, “Redefining Economies… Towards a Better Economic Future,” the Forum will hold a symposium with the same title, in which participants will present forward-looking visions about the economy in the coming decades, followed by another symposium during which a group of experts will shed light on the future of the green economy.

The themes of the seminars and sessions of the first day focus on several topics, including highlighting the investment system in Sharjah and the opportunities it provides to investors in various government and private sectors, in addition to reviewing the success stories of some investment groups and discussing the role of female entrepreneurs at the global level in the digital economy.

The second day witnesses the completion of the forum’s agenda with a symposium focusing on expanding investment opportunities between the Emirate of Sharjah and Hong Kong, in which speakers will be addressed by Mr. Algernon Yao, Minister of Commerce and Economic Development, and Mr. Chung Kuk-kwan, Deputy Minister of Justice in the Government of Hong Kong.

The forum also discusses the regional efforts that contributed to the expansion of companies and discusses the future of family business and its impact on the region and the future of financial technology, in addition to organizing workshops during which participants will train to develop their capabilities and qualify them in the field of foreign direct investment and adopt an innovative approach in encouraging investment.
