567thousand heads of livestock entered the Kingdom during July 2018

The General Authority for Ports (Ports) announced the arrival of 567 thousand livestock through the ports of the Kingdom during July 2018, an increase of 10.88% compared to the same period last year 2017, which amounted to 511 thousand of livestock, according to the statistical index issued by the Authority.
The number of livestock imported through the ports of the Kingdom from the beginning of this year until July 2018 amounted to 3.4 million head of cattle.
The ports provide all operational and logistic facilities and services to the concerned authorities to carry out their duties by ensuring the safety of the livestock before entering the Kingdom by sea and providing the specialized medical staff working around the clock to inspect the livestock to ensure their safety and free of Diseases and epidemics before entering the Kingdom.
It is worth mentioning that there are a series of procedures on the basis of which the General Authority of Ports, the General Authority of Customs and the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture, upon receiving the ships allocated for livestock from the ship berth and then the customs clearance, followed by random sampling by the veterinarian and examined by the specialized laboratories, Customs and handling through the dock operator for preparation for delivery to the merchant.
