The Egyptian Cabinet approved a draft law allowing residents abroad to import a car exempt from duties and customs, in return for placing the value of customs in banks in hard currency, provided that the owner of the car has the right to redeem the deposit after 5 years, and he will also get it in Egyptian pounds when redeeming it.
According to Al-Masry Al-Youm newspaper, the draft law sets some conditions for importing tax-exempt cars, which are:
1. The age of the resident abroad must be over 18 years old.
2. It is not required that the owner of the car be the first owner of it.
3. The year of manufacture of the car must not be less than 3 years.
4. The car must be used for personal riding.
5. An Egyptian who has a valid residence abroad is entitled.
6. He must have a bank account abroad that has been 3 months old.
