8 million visitors to Dubai during the first half of 2018

 During the first half of this year, Dubai recorded a new record of 8,10 million visitors, while the emirate’s tourism sector, estimated at AED 109 billion by the end of 2017, continues its continuous success. Dubai Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) figures show that Dubai is poised to achieve further growth in the second half of this year as the emirate continues to be a favorite tourist destination for many visitors. Major markets continued to perform well in the first six months of this year as India, Saudi Arabia and the UK maintained their top three positions compared with the same period last year. India has once again achieved the highest number of international visitors to exceed 1 million visitors, an increase of 3 percent. Saudi Arabia and the United Kingdom maintained their second and third positions respectively as the largest markets for tourism flows. Saudi Arabia achieved slight growth, It is the largest GCC market exporting to visitors. These figures confirm the success of Dubai’s market diversification strategy and continue to maintain Dubai’s appeal to visitors in major markets and increase the number of supporters of Dubai by focusing on a host of improvements to the tourism industry that attract a wide range of visitors. Helal Saeed Al Marri, Director General, DTCM, said: “Several markets witnessed steady performance during the first six months of 2018, and some of them achieved significant growth, which made Dubai manage to receive 8,10 million visitors during this period of the year. “We are confident that Dubai will become the most visited city in the world.”
