ADX held a workshop for listed companies on strengthening relations between the company and investors and the role of the investor relations manager in this regard and how to develop this role in line with international best practice.
The workshop was attended by investors’ relations managers in listed companies.
The participants stressed that the investors in the companies are the basis of the formation of these companies have put their money and savings to contribute to the development of the economy and to get the proceeds from this investment .. They pointed to the rights of investors, which are listed in the legislation governing the capital markets, including providing effective communication with the shareholders and provide them with information In a timely manner and to involve them in key decision-making with ease.
The workshop dealt with the appointment of the Investor Relations Manager and the tasks of the Director. This is the text of Article 35 of the decision of the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Securities and Commodities Authority No. 7/2016 regarding the standards of corporate discipline and the governance of public shareholding companies. The need to appoint an investor relations manager according to specific conditions such as to speak fluently in Arabic and English and to have a scientific qualification in addition to practical experience related to the fields of business or accounting or public relations of investors.
The workshop also discussed with the companies the need to establish a special page for investor relations on the company’s website so that it is updated and maintained in accordance with international standards, including data and means of communication in the investor relations department such as phone number and e-mail dedicated to provide all reports on financial results, Which are recorded in the archive or published, and the financial year’s data, including the dates of publication of the financial results data, the minutes of the meetings of the general assemblies and any other important events.
HE Khalifa Salem Al Mansoori, Chief Executive Officer of Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADSM), affirmed the market’s keenness to support and assist companies in enhancing the role of investor relations managers as well as enhancing relations between the company and investors.
