8.3 Billion AED is the Anticipation of Sales of Halal Meat in the UAE by 2018

Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) recently organized a two-day conference on the facilitation of halal and tea trade on the sidelines of the Gulf Food 2018, which kicked off its 23rd edition this week in Dubai.

The conference, which was held at the Dubai World Trade Center (DWTC) and the Dubai Multi Commodities Center (DMCC), brought together a number of business leaders and decision-makers from the UAE, Asia, Europe and Africa.

“By virtue of its dynamic strategic location, the emirate is a gateway to huge consumer markets of about 2 billion people,” said Omar Khan, Director of External Offices of Dubai Chamber, according to a press release. “The emirate can be a vital starting point for companies wishing to enter regional markets and the Middle East due to its strategic location and the logistical advantages it offers to investors.

Halal meat and green tea are among the fastest growing product categories in the UAE. According to Euro Monitor International, the value of halal meat sales in the UAE reached AED 7.7 billion last year, rising to 8.3 billion dirhams this year. To reach AED 10.2 billion in 2021, indicating an increasing demand for this type of food.

“The value of tea sales of all types reached AED 819.3 million in 2017 and will rise to AED 865.7 million in 2018 and reach more than AED 1 billion by 2021,”  He added.
