Media In – Berlin 22 February 2018 WAM
Germany remained Germany’s largest trade partner in 2017, surpassing the United States for the second consecutive year, official German data showed on Monday.
The data showed Germany’s exports to Britain fell last year amid expectations that it would continue as Britain prepares to exit the European Union.
Germany’s total trade with China rose to 186.6 billion euros (230 billion dollars) last year, compared with 170.2 billion euros in 2016, according to figures released by the German Federal Statistics Office. However, the United States remains Germany’s largest export market.
France’s total bilateral trade with Germany reached 169.4 billion euros last year, but remained the second most important market for German exports with purchases of 105.2 billion euros. China was Germany’s third largest export market with purchases of 86.2 billion euros.
